For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Leanne and I am so happy to be writing to such a wonderful base of readers! So why am I writing to you on Right Bite’s account? Well, over the past 2 years I have lost over 100 pounds, through eating healthy, exercising, and having a positive mindset. Oh wait… did I mention I’m 15 years old?
The Middle East has some of the highest obesity rates in the world and as the 13 year old girl I was, I had first hand experience, weighing over 120 kilos at the age of 13, I was miserable and lonely. Once I finally gained the motivation to make a difference in my life and realize that I want to feel confident and beautiful. I took the initiative to change, now let me tell you it is not easy but from my 15 years of living I have never experienced a more rewarding and beautiful experience. Being so young and so overweight I felt so alone and honestly at times I thought I was the biggest 13 year old in the world. From the moment I started to really get serious about losing weight I wanted to help every single person I could. Whether it was from people who didn’t truly love and cherish their body, to those who felt alone about their weight, I wanted to be the person to inspire them to lead a healthier lifestyle and reassure them that they aren’t alone. The passions I had and still have are what laid the foundation of creating my Instagram account Leanne Takes a Journey. A place where anyone can come get inspiration for workouts and what to eat, message me and follow what I do on a day to day basis.
Now, I’ve never really come out about this but, after losing so much weight sometimes I get really stressed about how I look and what I’m eating, leading me to eat at irregular eating times and sometimes not enough food. It got to a point where I just became so frustrated that I realized I have to do something about this. Over the years I have learned that it takes 21 days to create a habit and I was recently reminded of this while scrolling through Instagram. I knew that to get myself back on track I had to create new habits, and why not help others when you can. I brought the idea over to my beautiful followers on Leanne Takes a Journey and they really liked the idea! From there, I created the #21daychangewithL. The rules of the challenge were that if anyone has been wanting to create a healthy habit but haven’t had the motivation to start one we would do it together! And on October 8th we would follow that habit for 21 days. The new habits that I wanted to create were:
- 1. Eat more consistently by planning out my meals and timings (specifically focusing on eating a proper lunch)
- 2. Drink 3 liters of water everyday
- 3. Wake up at 5:45 on weekdays to either stretch or do school work
With three days left of the challenge I believe it's been a great success! I’ve been able to wake up at 5:45 and getting lots of work complete, I drink just around 3 liters and thanks to the amazing Right Bite team I have been eating lunch every day at around noon. (I usually get the Chicken Mediterranean Quinoa Salad and the Roasted Vegetables and Quinoa Salad, they are the bomb!! I would highly recommend.)
Now, if you weren’t able to join me on my 21 day change, you can always do this at your own time. Find a new habit that you want to start, set a start date and just do it! And, in the end living a healthy lifestyle is just the idea of having lots of healthy habits.
