BERRY GOOD JAM

Loaded with antioxidants, blackberries are like power bombs for your body. They're not always easy to come across though, especially here in the UAE so we recommend always having some of this supercharged chia jam on hand to slather on your breakfast bagel over some homemade peanut butter next time you're feeling a little sluggish!

500g frozen blackberries 
2 tablespoons maple syrup
4 tbsp chia seeds
1 tbsp freshly grated orange zest

Optional spice pairings

 ½ tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp grated ginger

 

 

Prep Instructions

  1. Bring the blackberries to a light boil in a medium sized, heavy bottomed pan; about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Roughly mash the berries (we like our jam on the chunkier side) then add the maple, orange zest and chia and continue cooking on low heat, stirring occasionally, for about another 3-5 minutes until your jam thickens.
  3. Turn the fire off and spice with some ginger or cinnamon for a more “surprising” jam and store your jam in an air tight container in the fridge.
