RANCH SPICE MIX
Did you know that ranch dressing is America’s favorite condiment? After reading the New York’s Time feature about ranch, we had to have a go at it and off course, tried to make it a little healthier than the classic :)
Not only this spice mix taste great, it’s virtually calorie free and loaded with nutritional value. Garlic, onions and chives all belong to the wonderful world of alliums; these sulfur rich foods can enhance the body’s detoxifying capabilities and have great anti-inflammatory properties!
1 ½ teaspoons dried chives
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon dried dill
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
¼ teaspoon mustard powder
Just mix up all the spice together and keep in an air tight container in the refrigerator until ready to use; it will keep indefinitely.
And now time to sprinkle some magic dust onto your favorite snacks, marinate some chicken in, or make you own ranch dressing!
To make the dressing, we replaced traditional buttermilk and sour cream with a cup of greek yogurt and a squirt of lemon and whisked it up all up with a tablespoon of the spice mix. For extra healing properties, a little kick and a bit of color you could also add ½ a teaspoon of turmeric powder and some chili flakes!
Now would you please pass the celery sticks?
